Fastmarkets’ weekly calculation of its chrome ore South Africa UG2/MG concentrates index, cif China was $283 per tonne on Tuesday, up from $281 per tonne on January 9. The index had held at $281 since December 19, 2023.

Research firm BMI has revised downward its nickel price forecast for this year to $20 000/t from $20 600/t as the market remains in a supply glut.

Shareholders of the Company are advised that the European benchmark ferrochrome price for the first quarter of 2024 has been settled at 144 US cents per pound, a decrease of 5.9% from the fourth quarter of 2023.

Nickel prices reached their lowest point in over two and a half years on Thursday due to persistent worries about oversupply putting pressure on the market.

Shareholders of Merafe Resources are advised that the European benchmark ferrochrome price for the fourth quarter of 2023 has been settled at 153 US cents per pound, an increase of 1.32% from the third quarter of 2023.
