【Ferro-alloys.com】: A new ferroalloy production plant, KazFerroLimited, has been officially opened in Ekibastuz, Pavlodar Region, Kazakhstan. According to TengriNews, citing the country’s government, the project is the first of three large industrial facilities planned for implementation in the region.

The total investment in the construction of the enterprise amounted to 30.4 billion tenge ($57.5 million). The new plant has a capacity of up to 60,000 tons of products per year, but the type of ferroalloy has not yet been specified.

The Kazakh government notes that after all three complexes are put into operation, the country will be able to take second place in the world in terms of production of ferroalloys, a strategic material widely used in metallurgy, machine building, transport, and other industries.

The new plant is equipped with two modern electric furnaces that meet international environmental and technical safety standards. The hybrid filter system provides air purification with an efficiency of up to 99.9%, making the enterprise one of the most environmentally friendly in the sector.

The project has created more than 350 new jobs, which will be an important factor in the socio-economic development of Ekibastuz and the Pavlodar region.

“This is not just the launch of a new production facility. It is a strategic step towards creating a full-fledged metallurgical cluster in the Pavlodar region, which will allow Kazakhstan to strengthen its position in the global industry. Ekibastuz is becoming one of the key industrial centers of the country,” emphasized the head of the region, Asain Baykhanov.

Earlier, in 2022, Kazakhstan’s Fincraft Resources, together with India’s Monnet Group, began construction of another ferroalloy plant with a capacity of 100,000 tons per year in the Taraz industrial park. Thus, Kazakhstan is consistently expanding its production base in the ferroalloy sector, seeking to strengthen its position among the world’s leading exporters.

It should be noted that Kazakhstan has recently been actively developing its metallurgical industry, attracting foreign investors and creating high value-added production facilities. One of the key projects is the construction of a 2 million tonne per year HBI plant in Rudny, which is being implemented by Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) in partnership with Primetals Technologies and Midrex Technologies. In addition, in September 2025, Kazakhstan joined the creation of a joint venture, Azerbaijan Metal Company, to build a similar plant in Azerbaijan worth $700 million.
