China's crude steel output dropped 9.1 percent in September on a year on year basis, reaching 39.6 million tons, the National Bureau of Statistics announced on Monday.
The crude steel output in Jan.-Sept. totaled 391 million tons, rising 6.2 percent from a year ago.
The pig iron output in Sept. fell 6.1 percent to 37.6 million tons, but the output in the Jan.-Sept. period grew 5.1 percent to 366.7 million tons.
Data also shows that the country's iron ore output was 64.8 million tons in September, climbing 12.8 percent year on year, and the output in the first three quarters jumped 19.4 percent to 585.6 million tons.
