Marula, a British mining company, will invest in a manganese operation in Kenya.

The Australian Steel Institute (ASI) has called for a ban on unprocessed steel scrap exports, stating that steel scrap is a valuable resource which is becoming increasingly scarce.

Battery metals miner Marula Mining’s Kenyan representative company has been awarded a mineral dealer’s trading licence, granting it the right to buy, sell and export manganese ores.

State-owned Transnet Port Terminals’ (TPT’s) Saldanha Iron Ore Terminal has embarked on a five-day shutdown for the maintenance and servicing of equipment on two tipplers, starting on April 15.

Rio Tinto reported a 5% fall in its first-quarter iron ore shipments on Wednesday, missing estimates, because of weather disruptions at ports and reduced production from some of its Western Australian mines.
