BRITISH COLUMBIA - Roca Mines of Vancouver has received an amendment to its operating permit approving an increase in production to 1,000-t/d at its Max molybdenum mine and mill near Revelstoke. The permit was issued by the British Columbia Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources.

The Max mine, which reached commercial production in April 2008, was the first new metal mine in the province to begin operations since the Huckleberry mine in 1997. Permission to double throughput capacity is a milestone, according to the company, that will allow it to increase its workforce to 90 people, and increase Roca's contribution to the local economy.
