At the 2008 Stainless Steel & Raw Materials International Congress held by www.ferro-alloys.com, Mr.Tan Zhuzhong, President of the CEO-Union of China Electrolytic Manganese Factories, talked about his view on electrolytic manganese currently.
According to Tan, the main problems of electrolytic manganese industry are as follows:
1. Conflict between supply and demand becomes more and more obvious.
1. Conflict between supply and demand becomes more and more obvious.
2. Excessive Mn ores consumption
3. The average grade of Mn mines is sharply dropping to 15% from 17% during 2003-2007.
4. Producing cost is increasing, and many enterprises have to stop production.
5. Small scale enterprises take up more than a half and lacks of finance and experts.
However, he stressed that electrolytic manganese industry still has a promising future.
1. Electrolytic Manganese is the right raw material of special steels for its good quality and cheap price. And varieties of figures can meet different demand of consumers. At present, we can produce high quality products based on poor Mn ores, and the capability and output are already taking up 97% above in the world.
2. Electrolytic manganese industry in China has a wide prospect as our country becomes the largest producer of steels.
He suggested that the depression in the last few months in 2008 may lead to bad sales station for most enterprises and the industry is probably in face of rearrangement with bankruptcy of some outdated plants. And the industry which relied on resource consumption is turning to a new term of resource saving and environment friendly. And the outdated capability will be eliminated by the market and the government in the future.
