[Ferro-alloys.com] European silicon prices jumped to their highest level in over a year, as production issues in Brazil and robust demand tightened the market, sources said.

 

The drop in production from Brazil has also increased premiums for higher grade silicon, raising the premium on 441 grade over 553 grade to €100, while 3303 and 2202 grades have an even higher premium, sources said. "The main source of supply [for higher grade material] is Brazil, and Brazil is not producing so there is a particular squeeze on the higher silicon grades.
