[Ferro-Alloys.com] Indian iron ore production are expected to reach 284 million tons (MT) by 2020 with an annual growth rate of about 7.4% a year.

Indian iron ore output has surged since 2000 from 80.7 million tons to 218.6 million tons in 2009. The influence of Karnataka and Goa mining ban would bring down iron ore production foe last few years. The report also predicted that by 2020, India's iron ore consumption will increase to 238.3 million tons.

India's iron ore reserves are abundant, including a large number of hematite and magnetite, with more than 28.5 billion tons of estimated reserves.
