[Ferro-Alloys.com] National Copper Corporation of Chile (Codelco), the largest copper producer in the world announced that its copper output in the first quarter was around 383,000 tons, down by 0.3% year on year.
The company’s pre-tax profit dropped by 38% to US$539 million during the period, driven by the lower copper prices.
Copper prices experienced a decrease of average 11% compared to the same quarter a year ago.
The company has purchased some new mines, trying to increase its copper output.
