Along with plans to become an integrated PV producer, Daqo New Energy is planning to tap the Ontario market with a majority-owned module assembly plant to be built in there. In collaboration with JNE Consulting, the polysilicon producer will invest an initial CAD $5 million (85% Daqo/15% JNE) in a 25MW (first phase) capacity plant, which is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2011.

“We are excited about the unique opportunity of Canada PV module market," said Dr. Gongda Yao, CEO of Daqo New Energy. “We are also happy to have JNE as a partner in North America, which has extensive engineering service experience in Canada, providing engineering consulting service for several solar power projects, and is very familiar with the Canadian PV market.”

Daqo had previously guided module sales for the first quarter to be approximately 4MW, under the company's own brand and sales of approximately 8MW of modules for customer branded products.
