Ferro silico manganese, which is mainly called silico manganese is manganese alloy containing 65 % Mn and 16 % Si. The main usage for silico manganese is same as ferro manganese in the steelmaking industry but while deoixidizing the steel it gives silicon element  into steel. Silico manganese is also produced in submerged electric arc furnace. To produce one ton of silicomanganese 4-4.5 mWh energy is required. 

In manganese alloys just as in the case of chromium alloys; silicon reduces the solubility of carbon atoms. When manganese alloy contains 16 % Si carbon content decreases to 2 % and for 30 % Si containing manganese alloy this figure is as low as 0.1% c.
