[Ferro-Alloys.com]The stainless mills have decreased their purchase price for ferrochrome month after month since the beginning of this year to try to offset the increasing price of nickel, Consequently, China’s ferrochrome producers have to lower their prices accordingly to keep their market share. It has been a tough year for all those producers. Some producers who are less competitive, especially for the small-size companies, have to close their plants. Some medium-size producers were force to shut down part of their furnaces.
“Two thirds of our furnaces have been shut down because of poor market.”, one manager from Sichuan said. “I would prefer to shut down the plant rather than to put it into production, but the plant has to be running for other reasons.”, a factory manager from a state-owned ferrochrome company in Sichuan said.
