[Ferro-Alloys.com]More than 70% of China’s manganese ore is imported, which restricted the development of China’s manganese alloy market, the supply pattern in the future is the most concerned topic that the industry focuses. The chief editor from Ferro-Alloys.com represented a speech about the global supply pattern of manganese ore in the 5th MnCrNi & SSteel International Conference.

Ms.Jiang gave an overview of global market distribution and supply&demand of manganese ore and analyzed the transmutation by the global output and trading data. Due to the globalization of world economy, the global manganese industry developed an obvious variation trend that the production of manganese ore and alloy concentrates on a few multinational corporations through merger and acquisition. China is the largest manganese ore importing country in the world and its market plays a more and more important role in the global manganese ore market.

“The long term of adjustment of China’s iron & steel industry has become a consensus, adding the severe oversupply of the downstream of manganese ore-ferroalloys, which would slow down the growth of the domestic demand for manganese ore,” she said. “Currently, there is no clue that the main manganese ore producers have cut their production, and most of them tend to explore new mines to increase the production. The market share of the non-mainstream would become larger and larger. The diversification of supply would probably break the monopoly by South Africa, Australia, and etc. The competition in the manganese ore market becomes more and more fierce, which has brought an end to the profiteering era of the multinational mine corporations. But the prices of manganese ore remained at the high level for now,” she added.
