[Ferro-alloys.com]Silicon metal price continued to be flat in the third week of October in China. Chemical silicon metal price kept firm. The reason was Organic silicon market turned warm and this led to more need for chemical silicon metal.
Until the third week of October, quotations were as follows: Kunming delivered price for off-grade Si553#, RMB12,500-12,600/mt, Si553#, RMB13,100-13,200/mt and Si441#, RMB13,500-13600/mt; Tianjin port price for Si421#, RMB14,300-14,400/mt and Si411#, RMB14,500-14,600/mt; Si2202# and Si3303# prices were much higher.
Export market of Si metal: High-grade silicon metal export price stayed firm in the third week of October. Until the third week of October, Si553# was USD 2,120-2,150/mt FOB, Si441# was USD 2,290-2,300/mt FOB, Si421# was USD2,310-2,330/mt FOB, Si 411# was USD2,330-2,350/mt FOB, Si3,303# was USD2,440-2,450/mt FOB, Si2,202# was USD2,570-2,620/mt FOB,.
Western Si metal price stayed flat in the third week of October. European Si 553# price was EUR 2230-2300/mt; the US was 145-147cents/lb. Indian silicon metal price was about USD2220/mt CIF. The price meant for Japan was US$2,200 per ton CIF. Korea Si441# was USD 2300-2370/mt CIF.
Analysis: Low-grade silicon metal price increased substantially and it was unlikely to increase again. Low-grade silicon metal price would increased because of its strong demand. Silicon metal price would stayed flat in late October.
