Now in its 7th generation, the family business Friedr. Lohmann GmbH, manufacturers of special steels, is still being run with great commitment today.The two traditional locations of the company Friedr. Lohmann GmbH, manufacturers of special steels, located in the districts of Herbede and Annen, have evolved from the "steel factory" founded in 1790 in Witten by Johann Friedrich Lohmann. Today the company has approximately 300 employees.

As a manufacturer of high-speed steels, tool and special steels (Herbede works) and abrasion-resistant speciality steel and heat-resistant castings (Annen works), Lohmann has achieved worldwide significance. The long established special steel factory is closely linked with the industrial development of the town of Witten and its surroundings.

High-performance equipment, environment-friendly production processes and well-trained, motivated specialist teams together with a quality management according to DIN EN ISO 9001 are the guarantors for the high standard and quality of our products and for ensuring ongoing development processes.
The setting up of an environment management system (DIN EN ISO 14001) reflects the strong commitment of the company towards protecting and improving the environment. 
Our company is recognised by the Chamber of Commerce as a certified apprenticing company. A certified risk management system has been introduced in accordance with the German Corporate Sector Supervision and Transparency Act (KonTraG).
Company policy which is marked by ongoing investments, continual improvements and innovative processes, is directed towards a stable future for the company.
