[Ferro-Alloys.com] Indonesia ore exports to China declined. Some small type of mines stopped production for they did not have the right to export after the ore export ban issued by Indonesia government in 2014. High grade nickel ore imports volume from Indonesia to China decreased to 24% in 2014, which was 52% in 2013. Thus the imports structure of China’s nickel ore has been changed. The temporary shortage of supply and prices increase of nickel ore influenced China’s ferronickel and stainless steel production. Some ferronickel mills production suspend or stopped for the shortage of ore source, highly ore prices and the bad ferronickel prices. Actually, Indonesia‘s nickel ore exports position to China has been placed by Philippines in 2014.
However, the supply of Philippines nickels ore reserves and production of high grade nickel ore unable to meet all the demand of our country currently. At the 12th China Ferro-alloys International Conference, co-hosted by China Chamber of Commerce of Metals Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters (CCCMC) & Ferro-alloys.com on May 27th-29th, 2015 in Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao, China, Mr Hu Guolian, General manager of China Nonferrous Metal Geological survey Co., Ltd, analyzed the topic on “Present situation and prospect of Philippines nickel ore in detail. Mr Hu Guolian pointed out that we should find out the correct way from the science and technology direction during the greatly changing situation of massive low grade ore and nickel prices. To make the full advantage of the massive cheap low grade ore with new technical methods to achieve low energy, reduce the cost of production and transportation.
Under low invest and environmental friendly condition, our goal is to produce the high grade nickel ore with high tech. to respond to the unstable nickel price and maintain sustainable development.
