Rio Tinto Predicts China Steel Production Reaches 1 Billion Tons by 2030

[Fellow]It is reported that Rio Tinto, Australia’s largest producer of iron ore, forecasted that the steel output in China would reach 1 billion tons by 2030 despite moderate growth in the past 18 months.

It is reported that Rio Tinto, Australia’s largest producer of iron ore, forecasted that the steel output in China would reach 1 billion tons by 2030 despite moderate growth in the past 18 months. 

According to top management of Rio Tinto said that the company have done quite a bit of research and analysis and they feel confident with 1 billion ton figure will remain stable. He also likes to see that 1 billion tons of crude steel production by 2030.

However, Li Xinchuang, president of China Metallurgical Industry Planning Association had different point of view, China steel production output would struggle to lift much higher than 800 million tons in next few decades, because the passing peak demand in 2014. 

Currently, China steel production output fell by 2% to 800 million tons for 2015 according to report said.
