World crude steel production for the 66 countries reporting to the World Steel Association in November 2015 was 127Mt – a decrease of 4.1% when compared to the same period in 2014.
China’s crude steel production for the period was down 1.6% at 63.3Mt and Japan’s figure was down 4.7% at 8.7Mt when compared with the November 2014 figures.
Germany produced 3.5Mt, down 3.1% and Italy produced 1.9Mt, up by 0.4%. Spain’s crude steel production was down 2.9% at 1.2Mt, but French production dipped 14.7% and was also 1.2Mt.
In Turkey production slipped by 7.2% when compared with November 2014 figures – it produced a meagre 2.6Mt – while in Russia 5.7Mt of crude steel was produced, a drop of 3.1%.
In the Ukraine, crude steel production was up 3.1% to 1.9Mt.
Moving across the Atlantic, the USA produced 6.1Mt of crude steel, down 15.6% while the Brazilians churned out 2.5Mt, a decrease of 4.4%.
The crude steel capacity utilisation ratio for the 66 countries in November 2015 was 66.9%, which is 4.0 percentage points lower than November 2014. When compared with October 2015, it is 1.4 percentage points lower.(Steel Times)
