A total of 2.86 million tons of tungsten ore has been discovered in a mining area in Fuliang County in southern China's Jiangxi Province, according to the provincial land and resources department on Jan. 5, 2016.
Discovered by a team of the Jiangxi Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration Bureau under a research project conducted by the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, the China University of Geosciences, and Peking University, the heavy metal mine is regarded as the world's largest deposit and will increase China's tungsten ore reserves, according to Hou Kechang, vice director of the Jiangxi Land and Resources Department.
China boasts 6 million tons of tungsten ore reserves and the province's tungsten ore reserve accounts for almost two thirds of the country's total.(Source:China.org.cn)
