It has been reported that the production of high-carbon ferro-manganese was commenced by Sakura Ferroalloys project Assmang Ltd., South Africa set up as a ferroalloy production business in Sarawaku, Malaysia, and it has turned out that the Company has a plan to make a first shipment during June.
2 units of 81MVA electric furnace are installed at this plant, and the first tapping of high-carbon ferro-manganese from No.1 furnace which started production this time is reported to be in early May.
No.2 furnace is also scheduled to begin with a production of high-carbon ferro-manganese, and according to the announcement made by Assmang, the production will start in the period from July to September and the production item will be changed to silico manganese in the later stage. The Company anticipates the first shipment of silico manganese to be made in the period from January to March in 2017.
According to the original plan, the annual production capacity in a total of 2 electric furnaces is 110,000 tons of high-carbon ferro-manganese and 70,000 tons of silico manganese.
