According to data from General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, China exported 5.75 million tons steel products in February, 2017, which declined 29.1% year-on-year, and declined 22.5% compared to that of last month. It has kept falling for three months, and became a low since February, 2014. The total steel products from January, 2017 to February, 2017 is 13.17million tons, which decreases 25.7% year-on-year, in terms of 4.56 million tons.
In February, China imported 1.09 million tons of steel products, increased 17.4% year-on-year, and remained the same compared to that of last month. China imported totally 2.18 million tons of steel products from January to February, increased 17.6% year-on-year, in terms of 0.32million tons, and the average price of these steel products is RMB 6993.4 per ton, which rose 6.3% year-on-year.
The Supply-side Structural Reform in China now is strongly going on, which leads to continuous price increasing of steel products. Thus many kinds of products lost their price advantages while being exported. For example, the price of square steel and hot-rolled coils from China are $30 to 50 higher than that from CIS. Based on the current global steel products market, China is expected to remain a low export of steel products.
