No Ferro Silicon Source in China

Ferro Silicon plant in Ningxia province, China fully stopped since Dec 5, 2017 and no timetable to recover. The reason to stop the production is to reduce the PM2.5 target by local government order.

Zhongwei county, has 10 producers of ferro silicon about 100K mt capacity of ferro silicon production in that area, which contains 25% of the total Chinese capacity of ferro silicon , the output of ferro silicon is 80K Mt per month in that loation, now fully stopped since Dec 5, just during the "China Steel & Ferroalloys Forum "in Beijing this week arranged by Ferro-alloys.com. Due to that news, the Future Market of Ferro silicon price went up to RMB8890 on Dec 6 for the transaction 1801 contract, the FeSi Price index went up to 8574RMB today. During conference , one steel mill bought 1500mt at RMB11600/mt for fesi grade 75% min. and now there is no cargo avaliable, so whatever you pay, there is no cargo at spot market.

Erdos, the biggest ferro silicon plant in the world, also no cargo for sale at moment, Tenda Xibei FeSi, the third largest one in China,also no cargo in Dec.  This shortage situation will not be changed in Dec and Jan, 2018 before the plant resumed to produce.

We do suggest all traders and consmers , do not accept any orders before market become stable and clear in supply side.
