Industrialists getting distressed by an increase in raw material prices for steel making

Since June 1, the industrialists have become furious again due to the rise in the charges of raw materials used for making steel. The prices have been rising up by almost Rs 1500 per tonne for different raw materials. The steel union or alliances are hold responsible by the industrialists for the increase in the prices as the industry is already going through decline.

According to the president of Janta Nagar Small Scale Manufactures Association, Jaswinder Thakral, alone from the last one year, the rate of steel making raw material has increased as high as Rs 15000 per tonne which in undeniably a troublesome condition. In June, the prices have risen up to Rs 500 to Rs 1500 per tonne which is appalling but the ministry of steel and the Central government are looking at how the industries are being demolished by the steel associations.

Another of the steel industrialist stated that it is now the time for the steel ministry to take action before shutting down of the small industries. He further added that six months back, pig iron closed at Rs 26000 per tonne now closed at Rs 35000 per tonne. In June alone the rates grew up by Rs 1000 per tonne. Even the union government has become unsuccessful to address the issue of redundant increase in raw material prices. Raw materials whether ingot, TMT or coil, the prices are hitting the roof since last few months.
