[ferro-alloys.com]Anglo American expects to produce 42,000-44,000 mt of nickel next year, in line with forecast production for 2018, the UK-listed mining group said Tuesday.
Anglo produced 44,000 mt of nickel in 2017.
For 2020 and 2021, output is expected to edge up to around 45,000 mt/year, the company said.
Anglo's nickel unit costs -- excluding royalties and depreciation -- are seen marginally lower at around $3.60/lb this year, down from $3.65/lb in 2017, and is expected to rise to around $4.00/lb in 2019.
The company's nickel assets are located in Brazil, with two ferronickel production sites -- Barro Alto and Codemin -- in the state of Goias.
