[Market Trend] Tariff Commission of the State Council released the notice on the adjustment plan for the temporary tariff rate of imports in 2020 on Monday, December 23, 2019. From January 1, 2020, the ferrosilicon export tax rate in 2020 temporarily remains unchanged at 20%.

[Ferrosilicon Tender] Many steel mills released ferrosilicon tender notices of January, 2020 in time, and the prices increased by 20-150 yuan per ton, which would be good news for the ferrosilicon market.

[Ferrosilicon Exports] According to the data released by China Customs, for the month of November, 2019, China exported a total of 20410.62 tons of ferrosilicon (>55%), up by 3.34% vs. October, 2019 and down by 52.21% vs. the same period in 2018; and exported a total of 2654.15 tons of ferrosilicon (≤55%), up by 25.67% vs. October, 2019 and down by 5.92% vs. the same period in 2018.

[Spot Market] The ferrosilicon market kept steady with a slight rise, the price of ferrosilicon 72# was around 5600 yuan per ton and 75# price was around 5900 yuan per ton. Currently, most plants are producing avoid the peak hours and the supplies were tighter, it’s expected that the price would continue increasing, but it still depends on the demand and the supplies.

[Ferrosilicon Futures 2001 Contract] The 2001 ferrosilicon contract price on ZCE opened at 5812, closed at 5886, and the highest price was 5900, the lowest price was 5742, the settlement price was 5880. The trading volumes were 67.3 thousand tons and the position was 29956.
