[Ferro-Alloys.com] ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India has attained record production in the financial year ended March 2020. Crude steel production was up 5 per cent in 2019-20 at 7.23 million tonnes against 6.92 million tonnes in 2018-19. AM/NS India CEO Mr Dilip Oommen said “Despite price and demand volatility, the company made strides to improve overall performance and operational efficiency. The record production would have been even better if not for the Covid impact on domestic and global steel demand towards the end of March.”
During the year, the company’s blast furnace set a new benchmark in productivity through in-house innovation, which enabled it to operate consistently over its rated capacity.
Pellet production increased 9 per cent to 11.63 million tonnes. (STEELGURU)
