The American Iron and Steel Association (AISI) reported Thursday that the United States imported 1.37 million net tons of steel in November, including 1.181 million net tons of finished steel, down 9.2% and 5.5% respectively from October's final data, according to preliminary data from the Census Bureau.

For the first 11 months of 2020, Total imports of steel were 20.526 million tons,14.799 million tons of finished steel imported, year-on-year decline of 22.1% and 24.9% respectively. In 2020, annual steel imports and finished steel imports will be 22.4 million tons and 16.1 million tons, respectively, down 19.8% and 23.3% from 2019.In November, Estimated market share of finished steel imports 17%, the estimate for the first 11 months of 2020 is 18%.

Compared with October, the main finished steel products with a significant increase in imports in November were tin plates (an increase of 43%), standard tubes (an increase of 27%), wire rods (an increase of 21%) and stripping of all other metal coated sheets (an increase of 19%).
