[Ferro-Alloys.comZhao Chenxin, Secretary General of the National Development and Reform Commission, said at a press conference on the 19th that from the perspective of power generation, from January to December 2020, China's industrial power generation above designated scale growed by 2.7% year-on-year, 0.7 percentage point higher than that from January to November. In 2020, China's electricity consumption increased by 3.1% over the previous year.

In terms of power generation, thermal power, hydropower, nuclear power, wind power and solar power increased by 1.2%, 5.3%, 5.1%, 10.5% and 8.5% respectively. In December, the power generation increased by 9.1% year-on-year, and the growth rate increased by 2.3 percentage points compared with last month.

According to data of the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2020, the output of raw coal above Designated Size in China reached 3.84 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.9%, and the growth rate was 3.3 percentage points lower than that of the previous year (4.2%). Among them, the output of raw coal in December was 350 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.2%. After Inner Mongolia, Shanxi became the second province with an annual output of more than 1 billion tons in 2020, and the output exceeded Inner Mongolia, became the largest coal producing province again. The output of Shanxi and Inner Mongolia was 1.063 billion tons and 1.001 billion tons respectively, an increase of 8.2% and a decrease of 7.8% over the same period of last year. The output of the two provinces and regions accounted for 53.7% of the whole country.
