Global crude steel production reached 1.864 billion tons in 2020, down 0.9% from the same period last year.

In 2020, the annual output of crude steel in Asia reached 1.3749 billion tons, an increase of 1.5% over the same period last year. Among them, China’s crude steel output reached 1.053 billion tons, an increase of 5.2% over the same period last year. China’s crude steel production as a share of global crude steel production rose from 53.3% in 2019 to 56.5% in 2020. India’s crude steel production was 99.6 million tons, down 10.6% from the same period last year; Japan’s crude steel output was 83.2 million tons, down 16.2% from the same period last year; South Korea’s crude steel output was 67.1 million tons, down 6.0% from the same period last year.  
In 2020, the annual output of crude steel in the EU was 138.8 million tons, down 11.8% from the same period last year. Germany’s crude steel output was 35.7 million tons, down 10.0% from the same period last year.  
In 2020, the output of crude steel in the CIS region was 102 million tons, an increase of 1.5% over the same period last year. Among them, Russia’s estimated output was 73.4 million tons, an increase of 2.6% over the same period last year; Ukraine’s crude steel output was 20.6 million tons, down 1.1% from the same period last year.  
In 2020, the annual output of crude steel in the Middle East was 45.4 million tons, an increase of 2.5% over the same period last year. Iran’s estimated output was 29 million tons, an increase of 13.4% over the same period last year.  
In 2020, the annual output of crude steel in South America was 38.2 million tons, down 8.4% from the same period last year. Brazil’s crude steel output was 31 million tons, down 4.9% from the same period last year.  
In 2020, the annual output of crude steel in Turkey was 35.8 million tons, an increase of 6% over the same period last year.  
In 2020, the annual output of crude steel in Africa was 17.2 million tons, the same as last year.  
In 2020, the annual output of crude steel in Oceania was 6.1 million tons, down 1.4% from the same period last year.
