Ferro-alloys.com：As part of the contract to support the digital transformation plan of the Russian Evraz Group (EVRAZ) in the Sheregeshskaya underground iron mine in south-central Russia, Ericsson and the Russian telecommunications company Mobile TeleSystems PJSC (MTS) will deploy supportable solutions based on Ericsson’s private network solutions LTE/5G commercial private network.

The Sheregeshskaya mine is EVRAZ's digital transformation pilot area starting in 2020. It is currently introducing modern digital technology to improve safety, equipment efficiency and output. The wireless private network provided by Ericsson and MTS will be integrated with the mine’s existing communication network and information technology infrastructure. This is the first step in the digital transformation plan.

The solution will include a system involving voice and radio communications, video broadcasting, emergency notification, and mining equipment scheduling, positioning, and autonomous control. The level of connectivity it can provide can meet the smart functions required by next-generation mining. This network will lay the foundation for a seamless upgrade to 5G in the future without requiring major changes to its architecture.
