[Ferro-Alloys.com] China aims to reduce the share of coal in its energy mix to less than 56 percent this year, according to a guideline released by the National Energy Administration (NEA).
The proportion was 56.8 percent in 2020 and 57.7 percent in 2019.
In 2021, China plans to further replace coal in final energy consumption with electricity equivalent to 200 billion kilowatt-hours, while increasing the proportion of electricity in final energy consumption to 28 percent, said the document.
Meanwhile, China's energy production is expected to reach 4.2 billion tonnes of standard coal equivalent this year, while the outputs of oil and natural gas are expected to stand at around 196 million tonnes and 202.5 billion cubic meters, respectively.
