According to the provisional data recently released by Joint Plant Committee of India, India's crude steel production in FY 2021 / 22 (by the end of March 2022) increased by 16% year-on-year, hitting a record high of 120 million tons, exceeding the record high of 111 million tons in FY 2018 / 19.
The increase in crude steel production in India in FY 2021 / 22 was largely due to the operation of the second blast furnace of JSW Steel dolvi plant in Maharashtra in October 2021, doubling the capacity of dolvi plant to 10 million tons / year. Previously, the total capacity of JSW was 18 million tons / year. At present, JSW has a crude steel production capacity of 26 million tons / year.
In FY 2021 / 22, the output and export volume of finished steel products in India increased significantly year-on-year by 17.7% and 25.1% respectively.
