Some buying interest for imported Indian-origin high carbon ferrochrome (58-60% Cr, 6-8% C) has started emerging in China as Chinese domestic prices appear to have bottomed out.
"Some people are asking for imported materials in the market now," said a Shanghai-based trader. "Our customers are willing to accept offers below 88 cents/lb."
A north China trader said Chinese buyers could be interested in buying at 87 cents/lb CFR China as this price is very close to Chinese domestic prices. "I would be interested in buying at 87 cents/lb too," she added.
Chinese domestic prices for high carbon ferrochrome (50% basis Cr) were at Yuan 6,900-7,100/mt on Thursday, which is equivalent to 84-87 cents/lb.
