[Ferro-alloys.com]Ferroatlantica resumed production on June 1 of silicon and ferrosilicon production in South Africa after a two-month, Eskom-related shutdown. The company lost about 22,000 mt of silicon and 8,000 mt of ferrosilicon during the closure. The company depleted all its South African stocks. Previously, Ferroatlantica reduced capacity by 60% in the first quarter at its Polokwane and Rand Carbide plants and sold its power back to Eskom.
