[Ferro-Alloys.com] Pasadena officials have lifted a shelter-in-place order that was issued after titanium caught fire at a metal scrap yard in Pasadena Thursday morning.

The small fire broke out about 9:45 a,m, at CNY Global at 123 N. Witter near Shaw, said Vance Mitchell, a spokesman for the Pasadena Police Department.

Mitchell said a vessel containing titanium ignited, sending smoke into the air. He said officials asked people within a half of a mile radius of the location to remain indoors as a precaution. They should also turn off their air conditioning units to avoid any fumes that may be sent into the air from the fire.

The fire is not threatening any structures and is in and open space in the scrap yard.
Investigators so far have not determined what sparked the flames.
