The Philippines nickel mining company Nickel Asia Corp. reported on Thursday an 8% year on year increase in its ore output for the first nine months of 2013.
In the first nine month, ore output came to 10.32 million wet metric tons (WMT).
However, due to the falling nicel price, the company estimated a drop of 18% for the value of its ore shipment for the first nine month.
Nickel Asia is the largest producer of lateritic nickel ore in the Philippines and operates a number of mines in the country.
It is reported that Nickel Asia soon expects to start commercial operations of a processing plant in Surigao del Norte with a full capacity projected at 4.5 million WMT, this would give a big boost for the company's sales in the future.
