The world's largest palladium and nickel producer has announced its preliminary consolidated production results for the third quarter of 2013, as well as the first nine months of the year.
Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) saw a drop in production during the third quarter of the year, it was found.
Consolidated platinum output was down eight per cent quarter-on-quarter to 174,000 troy oz. Meanwhile, consolidated palladium output was down seven per cent quarter-on-quarter to 703,000 oz.
Over the first nine months of 2013, consolidates palladium and platinumoutput amounted to 2.049 million ounces and 503,000 oz, respectively. These figures are in line with the production guidance for the year.
In addition, the Polar Division and Kola MMC produced 682,000 oz of palladium during the third quarter, which is down 6% quarter-on-quarter. Looking at its nine month output, palladium production achieved 1.979 million ounces - this was almost flat year-on-year.
Meanwhile, platinum output in Russia amounted to 169,000 oz - fully in line with the company's production plan. Meanwhile, the first nine months of 2013 saw platinum output drop five per cent year-on-year to 484,000 oz.
