Buyers of high grade material kept the high-carbon ferrochrome market alive over the past week in the US as several buyers closed at 120-128? per lb. The market for standard grade high-carbon ferrochrome, however, was less active, and most volumes were typically one and two truckloads. Downstream intake was reportedly quite steady for contract customers, and although spot buying was more limited over the past week, many anticipated a slight rise in prices next month. Some reported that supply of standard grade material was still restricted a bit, and such dynamics were not likely to abate in the coming weeks.
