BEIJING (Reuters) - China's exports of steel products in October fell 31 percent from September's 6.67 million tonnes to 4.62 million tonnes, as international demand weakened due to the global financial crisis.

For the first 10 months of the year, the world's largest steel maker exported 53.12 million tonnes of steel products, 1.2 percent lower than the same period last year, the General Administration of Customs said on its website (www.customs.gov.cn) on Tuesday.

A number of China's steel mills, including the largest, Baosteel Group, are cutting steel production in the face of declining demand and prices, suffering losses or profit decreases amid slumping consumption.
