Japanese production of aluminum construction materials decreased by 1.0% to 26,849 tonnes in September from a year earlier, according to Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The shipment increased by 0.1% to 31,615 tonnes when the demand recovered slightly for housing sash while building materials was still in slump.
The housing sash shipment increased by 7.7% to 12,268 tonnes for wooden house in September from a year earlier after months of slump due to low level housing start. The building sash shipment decreased by 11.2% to 10,016 tonnes. The aluminum door shipment increased by 6.0% to 2,490 tonnes and aluminum exterior shipment increased by 3.0% to 6,841 tonnes. –Japan Metal Bulletin
