According to report of Reuters, Toyota Tsusho said the company will set up a rare earth processing plant in India and deliver 3,000 to 4,000 tons per year to Japan starting 2012.
Currently Japan’s trading companies are eager to procure the rare earths, the ingredient of making auto parts and high-tech products since China, the major supplier, cut it export quotas.
Sumitomo Corp, Japan’s third largest company, said it was in talks with Molycorp of the United States for a rare earth supply deal.
