[Ferro-Alloys.com] The global aluminum market was in surplus by 381,000 metric tons in the first six months of the year, the World Bureau of Metal Statistics said Wednesday.
This compares with a surplus of 1.798 million tons in the whole of 2011.
Global demand for primary aluminum in the first six months of 2012 rose 4%, compared with the year-earlier period, the WBMS said, without citing a specific figure. Production meanwhile rose 3.27%, it said.
Global demand in June was 3.840 million tons, while primary aluminum production was 3.836 million tons.
