[Ferro-Alloys.com] According to the statistics released by the China Steel Logistics Committee which is part of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, the purchasing managers index (PMI) of the Chinese steel sector in August was 39.9 percent, down 4.6 percentage points compared to the previous month, recording the lowest level since December 2008.
In August, the new order index for the Chinese steel sector decreased by 1.1 percentage point month on month to 32.2 percent, following a month-on-month decline of 13 percentage points in July. Also in August, the purchase price index for the Chinese steel sector was 21.6 percent, indicating a month-on-month decrease of 0.9 percentage points compared to July and constituting the lowest level since 2009.
