[Ferro-Alloys.com] Exports from South Africa's Richards Bay Coal Terminal fell for the second consecutive month in September to 5.2 million mt, down 10.9% from August, although 5.7% higher than a year earlier, throughput data provided by the terminal Thursday.

The terminal achieved its highest export figure so far this year in July when it shipped 6.3 million mt, although volumes have fallen since.

State-owned logistics group Transnet Freight Rail railed 6.1 million mt of coal to the terminal during the month, 2.3% less than in August total and 2.2% lower yer-on-year. September is the fifth month this year in which the group has railed over 6 million mt of coal to RBCT.

In January-September, TFR railed 51.6 million mt to RBCT, which in turn has exported 49.4 million mt of coal over the same period.

RBCT reported stocks at the end of September at 3.9 million mt, up 22.6% from August, but down 20.9% on-year. Sources said last week that they expected stocks to reach 4 million mt by the end of September.
