Gerdau North America special bar treatment line to open in August

[Ferro-Alloys.com] Gerdau Special Steel North America is close to completing a 15,000 tpy treatment line in the USA, to serve an emerging market for electric power steering systems for cars.
 
The new line at its facility in Huntington, Indiana, will source hot rolled special bar quality (SBQ) steel produced in Michigan, and will provide heat-treatment services, in addition to polishing, stressing, straightening and cutting. The expansion includes a fifth line for the quench-and-temper process, a new crane and a new building for the extra equipment.
