[Ferro-Alloys.com] After dropping 8.5% over the course of a month, aluminium prices were trading near levels last seen in 2009 in kerb trading on the London Metal Exchange on Tuesday September 17.
Three-month aluminium closed at $1,777.50 per tonne, down from $1,782 per tonne a day earlier and at its lowest point since late June, when the light metal posted a series of four-year lows. The slide comes ahead of a two-day US Federal Reserve meeting that will end on Wednesday, where policymakers will discuss plans to start tapering the central bank’s asset purchase programme.
