[Ferro-Alloys.com] It's reported that Brazil's iron ore exports rose from 153 million tons to 168 million tons in the first 7 month of this year compared to the same period in 2013.
According to Iron ore and base metals association, Sinferbase that mining giant Vale produced a total of 154 million tons in the said period while pellet producer Samarco exported 13.1 million tons.
Pellet exports totaled 26.9 million tons in January to July, up from 26.3 million tons year-on-year. Domestic iron ore sales conversely fell from 14.6 million tons to 14.4 million tons.
Members in Sinferbase include Vale and its Itabrasco, Nibrasco, Hispanobras and Kobrasco units; Samarco; resource group Anglo American, and local iron ore miner MMX. Samarco in particular is a 50:50 JV between Vale and BHP Billiton.
