[Ferro-alloys.com]According to the latest data released by National Bureau of Statistics, power production of China in August 2014 was 495.9 billion KWH, down 2.2% year-on-year. This is the first y-o-y negative growth in 2014. Power generation decline confirmed downward trend of macro economy to some extent.
It was analyzed that low temperature affected power generation. National average temperature in August was 0.2 ℃ lower than common year and 1.5 ℃ lower than the same period last year. Low temperature reduced power demand from enterprises, thus power generation was affected. In August, thermal power generation decreased by 11.3% and then inventory pressure in coal market began to show.
