[Ferro-Alloys.com]JISCO started its February inquiry for high-carbon ferrochrome this last with the same price and purchase amount as January, and it is expected that the rest of China’s major stainless steel makers would start their inquiries in the following week. Some high-carbon ferrochrome producers raised their retail prices, expecting an increasing of steel mills’ tender prices. On the other hand, China Customs released the import data of ferrochrome, saying that China imported 230702 tonnes of ferrochrome in Dec 2014 and China’s imported ferrochrome totaled 2057987 tonnes in 2014, about 218000 tonnes more than that of 2013, creating a four-year high. It is expected that the ferrochrome prices would remain the current level facing the lower international prices.
 
Last week, the mainstream prices of high-carbon ferrochrome in Sichuan and Inner Mongolia are RMB6,300-6,400/50MT and RMB6,200-6,300/MT, EX works price; futures prices for ferrochrome of South Africa, India and Kazakhstan are USD0,78-0.79/lb Cr, USD0.82-0.83/lb Cr and USD0.88-0.89/lb Cr respectively; the spot prices for ferrochrome of South Africa, India and Kazakhstan were RMB6,400-6,400/MT, RMB6,500-6,600/MT and RMB7,300-7,600/MT.
 
High-carbon ferrochrome (C6-8%, Cr60-65%) price was USD0.99-1.02/lb Cr, and low-carbon ferrochrome (C0.1%, Cr60-70%) was USD2.03-2.08/lb Cr in EU market. High-carbon ferrochrome (C6-8%,Cr60-65%)was USD1.1-1.12/lb Cr (FOB Pittsburgh), and low-carbon ferrochrome (C0.1%, Cr62+%) was USD2.09-2.11/lb Cr.
 
The prices for low-and micro-carbon ferrochrome kept stable under the pressure of increasing stock. The prices for low-carbon ferrochrome C25, C10 were RMB11,500/T, RMB11,700/T in Liaoning, and RMB11,300/T, RMB15,500/T in Inner Mongolia. Meanwhile, the mainstream prices for silicon chromium were RMB7,600-7,700/T in China. 
 
Prices of chrome metal kept stable after the price down in the previous week. The ex works price for chrome metal was RMB56,000-58,000/T in Jinzhou, and RMB52,000-53,000/T in Henan and Hunan, down by RMB1,000/T. There was sufficient supply in the market but weak demand. The chrome metal price in EU market remained at USD8,700-9,100/T.
