Bilfer Mining and Tourism Inc. has been in the mining industry for more than 70 years. Bilfer had been established in the city of Hatay for mining and processing of chromium. As the result of increasing chromium demand, Bilfer has increased the number of enterprises in the area of ?skenderun - Mara? , Guleman - Elaz??, Sivas - Erzincan, Adana - Kayseri and has intensified its activities. In establishment phase of Eregli Iron and Steel Factory, Bilfer has also started iron ore mining.

During 1960's to 1970's,  Bilfer Mining and Tourism Inc. has succeded on supplying a substantial portion of iron ore demand of existing integrated iron - steel mills by reaching over 1,000,000 metric tons of production per year in Attepe, Deveciler and Karakuz Iron Mine pitches as previously it has succeeded in Divri?i.

In order to be able to compete locally and internationally, Bilfer Mining and Tourism Inc. has been investing constantly in iron and chromium process plants. The most important products that Bilfer has to offer; Metalurgical and Refractery chromit, have been supplied to the major ferrochrom and alloy producers from all around the world.

Since the 3rd quarter of 2003 the exports of Bilfer on both Metalurgical and Refractery Chromit has been over 150,000 metric tons. For the last few years Bilfer has been increasing the product range for higher quality and has become a major supplier of concentrated refractory chromium and the finest molding chromium.

According to demand, Bilfer Mining and Tourism Inc. has performed the necessary investments in time and has increased production capacity continuously. For creating marketing opportunities for low grade chrome ore and for preparing ore which is suitable for the requirements of foreign markets, Bilfer Mining and Tourism Inc. built chromite enrichment facilities in Malatya - Kuluncak , Sivas - Eskiköy and ?skenderun.
